Q: I AM INTERESTED IN A BOUDOIR SESSION, BUT I’M SO NERVOUS!!
Everyone is nervous to begin, to commit to this amazing experience. We hear over and over again that it was so worth it! When women come to us and a lot of them have butterflies, they’re nervous and excited. Every client is stepping out and trying something new, something brave. But oh my goodness, is it worth it! It’s because this is not just a photo session, it’s an experience, one that can truly change how you feel about yourself. For me personally, it helped me to see how beautiful I was, to feel more confident and see myself as a woman – I have many other titles too – wife, mom, kid chauffeur, house cleaner – and most of those I am very proud to be (not the house cleaner part!). But to see myself this way brought out an inner confidence I didn’t know I was lacking. So if you’re thinking about it, do it, don’t waste anymore time wishing and wondering, do it. You’re worth it.
Q: THE WOMEN THAT YOU WORK WITH ARE BEAUTIFUL. I’M AFRAID I WON’T LOOK Like THEM
The real answer to that is, I don’t want you to look like anyone else but you. But honestly, all these women are just women like you and me. I work really hard to pose you in the best way so that you look amazing. You do have to trust me, but I promise I won’t let you down. There is nothing like when I show a client the back of my camera for the first time. Most women are so surprised and say something like “Oh wow! That’s me?! I can’t believe how good I look!” And yes, darling, you will feel that sense of awe to your core.
Q: HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD I BOOK MY SESSION?
I suggest booking your session 2 months prior to when you need your finished artwork. I only take a select number of sessions each month, so I suggest booking as soon as possible and would recommend at least 2 to 3 months in advance. Boudoir sessions are something to prepare for, anticipate, plan for. When you book months in advance that gives you an opportunity to get your outfit ideas together, to shop and get new items in. You also have time to browse through the different lingerie boutiques that we recommend. If you know in advance that you want to grab a session date 6 months in advance, great! Let’s set it up. Keep in mind that the first time you see your edited images a 1-2 weeks after your session, and then it takes a few weeks for your products to come after that. Give your self ample time if you need your finished artwork by a certain date.
Q: DO CLIENTS DO THEIR OWN HAIR AND MAKEUP?
Yes.But I can recommend very talented lady do do it for you.
Q: I DON’T KNOW WHAT TO WEAR. CAN YOU HELP ME?
Yes! We prepare you with tons of info prior to your session. You get info on different styles that look good on every body, our suggested colors for your skin type, and so much more.
Q: I’M NOT A BIG LINGERIE PERSON, WHAT DO YOU SUGGEST BRINGING?
Not everyone loves lingerie, and that’s ok! There are so many ways to feel beautiful at your session. We give you tons of ideas in our Welcome Guide when you book your session. But some of our favorites are off the shoulder sweaters, white pressed shirt, leather jacket, Calvin Klein underwear, or nothing at all.
Q: WHEN DO SESSIONS TAKE PLACE?
Portrait sessions take place weekday mornings between 10.30-12.30
Q: I DON’T KNOW HOW TO POSE LIKE THE WOMEN THAT YOU WORK WITH, WILL YOU HELP ME?
I have a secret to let you in on, I don’t expect you to know how to pose at all! That is my job! And I will demonstrate each and every pose, so all you have to do is mirror me. I will tell you what to do with your toes, your hands, where to look, and remind you to breathe. And did you know that most of my clients have never done this before! So I promise you, you’re in good hands!
Q: I’M NOT REALLY COMFORTABLE BEING PHOTOGRAPHED NUDE, BUT I REALLY WANT TO DO A BOUDOIR SESSION. IS THAT OK?
Absolutely! You can feel beautiful and sexy no matter how covered you want to be. We completely customize your experience to your comfort level. We always suggest bringing many different types of looks. You may be surprised that by the end of your session, you may want to try something more revealing or just be wrapped in sheets. Keep an open mind as you prepare for your session!
Q: DO YOU PHOTOGRAPH COUPLES?
Absolutely! Bring your other half and I will create awesome portraits for both of you.
Q: HOW MUCH DO YOU EDIT OUT?
Photoshop is definitely our friend. With that said, I want you to look like you. I do smooth skin so you look like how you feel on the inside. My general rule with editing is to take out things that aren’t permanent – a blemish, a scratch or bruise, stray hairs, soften wrinkles, etc. Posing can really help to accentuate curves and flatter your figure. We do get asked about stretch marks – and well, we believe that stretch marks tell part of your story. They represent the awesome strength your body has endured. However, if stretch marks are something you would like removed, we can definitely chat about it.
Q: WHEN WILL I SELECT MY FAVORITE IMAGES?
Around three weeks from your session you will be invited back to my studio to see the awesome portraits of yourself.
Q: I’M INTERESTED IN BOOKING A MATERNITY BOUDOIR SESSION. WHEN SHOULD I PLAN TO DO MY SESSION?
I absolutely love working with expecting moms!! For a maternity boudoir session I recommend having your session between 28 and 33 weeks. This allows for the expecting mom to have a round full belly, but still be feeling fabulous. When planning looks for a maternity session, I recommend timeless and classic pieces as well as less is more strategy. We have gorgeous gowns in the Client Closet to wear at the session. And the Angel Wings look absolutely stunning on pregnant mom. My favorite look is when the pregnant mom is nude and shows off her curves. With a nude look, we strategically place arms and legs to cover everything so that the overall look is timeless and classic.
